GROUP MEETING FRIDAY 23rd September 6.30pm

Home Start are holding an Olde Time Music hall with Dentith & Price at Hartlebury Village Hall on17th October, tickets from Barbara Hughes

There was then held a Fire Drill, to comply with the rules of hiring the hall.
Margaret Cook was presented with her prize for designing a WI Flag for the 90th WI birthday. The flag is currently being made by Brenda Banner.
Katie then presented a fantastic home movie about our WI using photos taken by members and background music of ‘Jerusalem’.  It showed her skills as a film maker and how far advanced she is in today’s technology than the rest of us who were in awe of her talent.  Katie is also appearing on the Sky Shopping Channel demonstrating more of her skills making jewellery and hats.  Patsy presented Katie with a WI cookbook in appreciation of the hard work she had put into her ‘production’.
Following an extended social time with cheese and biscuits, Pimms punch and black forest cakes, when there was time to look at old minute books and the WI scrapbooks, where many members saw photos of their younger selves, Patsy announced that the Art Group will start the Autumn term on 6th October at the Masonic Hall.  Margaret Cook showed how she had made a ‘Sensory Band’ from crochet with various textures attached for use by a patient with Alzheimer’s  disease and urged members to take a pattern and make some more,
Thanks were extended to the committee and members who had provided the food, to Linda Lane for the table plant and the raffle was drawn. The competition for a covered coathanger was won by Margaret Cook with Pam Eves and Ann Lakin close behind.
There  was then just time for a ‘Who am I?’ when Paula read out that it was  a member who had run a nursery school between the years of 1966-1968 but not in the UK.
It was eventually guessed that it was Anne Freeston who had started a small nursewry on Ocean Island in the South Pacific to relieve boredom whilst living there when her husband was working as an engineer,

The next meeting following the Group Meeting) will be on October 10th when David Berry will talk on Military Mistakes and Misjudgements.  The competition will be a homemade poppy.
